Does jealousy tie in with low self esteem?

Like, people who get jealous do they most likely suffer from low self esteem?

yes..people with low self esteem tend to look for others to entertain then and never try to do anything on their own. Set goals and achieve them.

With a little self-awareness, you can learn to tame your green-eyed monster.

To complete this How-To you will need:

An honest assessment of your relationship
The courage to change things
Visualization

Step 1: Realize jealousy is normal

Realize that some jealousy in a relationship is perfectly normal. It only becomes destructive when it is an ongoing point of contention.

Step 2: Assess your relationship

Figure out the driving force behind your jealousy. Are you afraid you might lose your partner to someone else? Or are you angry at being disrespected when they flirt with others?

Step 3: Figure out the real problem

If fear of losing your partner is the problem, ask yourself if you’re insecure because you have low self-esteem, or because you feel your partner is not as committed to the relationship as you are.

Tip: If your partner is a flirt, consider that this simply may be their nature. The tipoff? They flirt with everyone — young, old, skinny, fat, attractive, and homely.

Step 4: Work on yourself

If low self-esteem is the problem, work on building yours by using self-help books or working with a therapist.

Tip: Try this visualization technique: The next time you’re feeling jealous, therapists recommend conjuring up a pleasant scene in your mind or recall a happy memory.

Step 5: Reevaluate your relationship

If you come to the conclusion that your anger and jealousy are well founded and rooted in your partner’s disrespect and possible philandering, consider ending your relationship. You deserve a partner that makes you feel loved and treasured, not angry and mistrustful.

Is it jealousy or low self-esteem?

Everytime my husband and I go out I see a pretty girl dressed and looking better than me I get mad at my husband. I accuse him of looking at her and go off. He gets mad at me and we argue until I cry. Can this be that I am too jealous or have very low self-esteem? I feel I will loose him to a thinner and prettier girl than me, eventhough he says I am the only one he loves. Please help!!!!

You are just too insecure… Love yourself girl. :)

how do you stop the jealousy?

I don’t know how to stop my jealousy. My friend and I have become closer as time goes on but lately I notice that she and this other girl at work laugh and talk a lot. This morning she tells me that she called her earlier to remind her something. It really bothered me, and during break a few of the co-workers and her and the other girl went into the breakroom together. This really bothers me. I know I can’t control her and I don’t want to. but i feel like I’m not interesting anymore and she’s starting to like others instead. Even though she still asks me out for lunch or going other places. We still email each other all the time and talk. but it’s no longer playful flirting, it’s more serious talking like we don’t have to try anymore to impress. Are we getting closer or is she losing interest? How do I stop the jealousy? when I see her on the phone or talking with someone else, i get so jealous it drives me crazy. Help! I don’t want to ruin this friendship. (yes I’m attracted to her).

Jealousy is just an expression of insecurity. First and foremost you need to examine your feelings as they occur. Talk with your friend about it when you’re not in the throes of a full jealousy outbreak. You’ve made the most important step and realized it’s a problem in you and not others.

Look up some sites on polyamory. Jealousy is a big issue with polyamorous people, so they tend to write about how to deal with it. There are a number of good articles and resources on this.

I’ve listed a site that has a lot of good articles, some of them are about dealing with jealousy. If you can’t find any good articles about dealing with jealousy, email me and I’ll see if I can send you more.

What is the best way to stop jealousy?

Someone eles is jealousy of me.

You can’t control other people’s jealousy (or anything else for that matter). The best way is to simply ignore it. Ignore any hateful comments or anything else from the person who is jealous.

I had a co-worker like that, she used to jab at me all day long about my clothes or weight or whatever because she couldn’t keep a boyfriend and I was getting married. I just learned to stop even acknowledging her comments. Now she’s left the company! Yay!

How do I stop my jealousy?

Ok, so it’s always been evident that my friend and I have been jealous of each other. But I seem to be the one not able to overcome it. I’m not even sure what I’m jealous of, just that it’s hard to feel happy for her. Maybe it’s that she has more close friends than i do. But she always says I have more friends. She even said once that my life was perfect.

But she is able to congratulate me whole heartedly when something good happens to me. Rather, when something good happens to her, I seem to be in a bad mood.

How an I stop myself from being so jealous?

Tell yourself life has its up and downs, and you girls will be there for each other. Remind yourself that life is not a competition but a struggle that needs all the support you can have to make it through.
