@Xephon212 im no … @Xephon212 im no authority on the subject , just your armchair philosopher , psychonaut with buddhist intentions. the way i understand it though , i dont think you can ever have self realization without first developing self awareness , especially awareness of thought and what inspires those thoughts. practices ? the best way ive found for practice is meditation or call it what you want , thought watching and retracing those thoughts to their original source. theres a few other ways , mess. me.
@potentialrandom … @potentialrandom Minor consolation if you fall short of your own ideals? In what manner could beating all others permit one to still fall short of one’s ideals? Do you mean to say that there are those among us who wish to be better than the best? I cannot think of a scenario more ideal than the best one. Can you?

goethe says that” … goethe says that” combining thought with action is the most difficult thing to do”. my theory is to be self realized is the most difficult thing, so too with bringing a thought to realization . to practice this is to be on the path of self realization.
Greco-Buddhism, … Greco-Buddhism, sometimes spelt Graeco-Buddhism, refers to the cultural syncretism between Hellenistic culture and Buddhism, which developed between the 4th century BCE and the 5th century CE
But I think that is … But I think that is what is so goof about these videos, of course you cant get the true essence in a short video… what you can get is an intellectual “appetizer” for the less lettered among us to tempt us to discover more, so that we are not so intimidated and realize that everyone can benefit, that we are clever enough, an end that Montaigne would surely approve
Wise to bring … Wise to bring Montaigne to the attention of the wider public, but please, read the original essays – the video only helps to diminish the importance of this moralist. The example are mostly banal and shallow, there is much more in those pages than this
Perhaps it’s more accurate to say that self-esteem is a function of the discrepancy between who we are and who we would like to be. Comparing ourselves to others, we alter our expectations of ourselves. Beating all others is a minor consolation if we fall short of our own ideals.
